Plant & Flower Care

Hypertufa&Succulent Care

Watering instructions and care:

  • Indoors: Place your garden in a sunny window and water about once a week. An easy way to water is to soak the whole container in a shallow pan of water for a few minutes. You can also water from above.

  • Outdoors: Succulent gardens also enjoy being outdoors for the milder seasons ( spring, summer, and fall). They do well with part sun on a porch or patio.

  • When plants grow over the edges of the pot, you can pinch it off and put the cutting back in to root under a stone.

Cut Flower Bouquet

Tips for extending your bouquet’s vase life!

  • Keep your flowers in a cool spot away from sunlight.

  • Trim the stems at an angle then place in water.

  • Change the water in your vase daily or every other day. You can re-trim the stems every 2 days to extend the life of your arrangement.

Dahlia Tuber & Plant Care

Tuber Planting

Plant your tubers at least 2 ft apart in a sunny location. If planting in a pot or container choose one that is at least 12 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Place the tubers on their sides in the soil. If there are visible eyes or sprouts, tilt those up towards the surface. Cover lightly with soil about 1 inch deep. Mist lightly with water, but do not water thoroughly until the green shoots appear, then you can begin to water regularly and add soil around the tuber as the greens multiply. If there are multiple mini shoots coming up around one or two larger ones, pinch these small ones off at the base, they will only pull energy away from your main flower producing stems.

Tuber Storage

Store your dahlia tubers in a cool but not freezing environment, ideally between 40-50 degrees F. They should be in a dark dry place with good air circulation. You can use plastic bags/bins in a dry place or paper bags/boxes in a damp place. Pack them in peat moss, pine fir or spruce shavings.Leave space between each tuber and leave space for air circulation. You can wrap them individually in plastic or paper so that if one rots or molds you can remove in without affecting the rest. Check on you tuber periodically throughout the winter. You can mist the tubers if they are getting dry.
